Purbeck
This page is still under construction - more information and pictures to follow.
Purbeck illustrates the ball clay industry that existed on the Isle of Purbeck just south of Wareham in Dorset.
A degree of modellers' licence has been used allow an attractive exhibition layout to be built, but there are models of some of the original locomotives and prototypical wagons along with the foreman's hut which can be seen next to the clay mine siding.
It's now the end of October 2024 and Purbeck has been set up for a week of initial testing and operator familiarisation, inbetween sessions of Quarry Bank being prepared for it's next outing at the end of November.
Those who are fans of Purbeck may be pleased to know that several locos together with various items of stock that used to run on the layout have just been acquired. This should ensure that, although under new ownership, the layout still retains its original charm.
