Moretonhampstead
Moretonhampstead is a British Railways Western Region branch terminus station with goods yard, set in the mid-1950s & early 1960s. It is based on the GWR terminus of the same name in Devon and is approximately 80% accurate. A certain amount of modellers’ licence has been used, most notably in the location of the goods yard.
Some Southern Region Hampshire DEMUs may be seen - they are undergoing evaluation by the Western Region. In addition, there are infrequent Southern trains operating passenger services from Exeter via Newton Abbot along with rail tours, often hauled by heritage locomotives from even further afield.
Freight trains handle mainly produce from the local farms along with coal and other supplies for the gas works. There is a five-road fiddle yard, thus ensuring that visitors can enjoy a wider variety of trains than would have otherwise been seen in real life.
